Obecny na uroczystości wiceszef Kancelarii Prezydenta wręczył rodzinie zmarłego odznaczenie Krzyża Komandorskiego Orderu Odrodzenia Polski. Profesor odznaczony był jeszcze za życia, jednak ze względu na stan zdrowia nie mógł odebrać orderu.
